Problems

  • ✗
    No DNS over TCP
Nameservers · DNS over TCP is required (RFC 7766); without it, large answers such as DNSSEC responses fail. Not answering over TCP: dnse1.ac-rennes.fr (195.221.67.4): dial tcp 195.221.67.4:53: i/o timeout.
    #19
  • !
    No IPv6
Delegation · None of the nameservers has an IPv6 address, so IPv6-only resolvers can't reach them.
    #13
  • !
    Software version disclosed
Nameservers · These nameservers report their software version via version.bind/version.server, which helps attackers find known vulnerabilities: ns0.ac-grenoble.fr: "9.20.15-1~deb13u1-Debian"; svc-dns-publique-01.ac-normandie.fr: "9.18.33"; svc-dns-publique-02.ac-normandie.fr: "9.18.33". Hide or replace the version string.
    #17
  • !
    Serials differ
SOA · The nameservers serve different versions of the zone: 2026102618 on svc-dns-publique-01.ac-normandie.fr (193.50.120.71), svc-dns-publique-02.ac-normandie.fr (193.50.120.72); 2026243795 on dns1.ac-lille.fr (194.199.79.6), dnse1.ac-rennes.fr (195.221.67.4), ns0.ac-grenoble.fr (193.54.149.20). This is normal for a few minutes after a change; if it lasts, zone transfers to the secondaries are failing.

Problems

  • ✗
    Policy: none (monitoring only)
DMARC · DMARC policy is set to 'none', which only monitors but doesn't protect against spoofing. Consider upgrading to 'quarantine' or ideally 'reject'.
    #4
  • !
    Hosts without IPv6
MX · The following MX hosts could not be resolved to IPv6 addresses: msg-a85.education.gouv.fr, msg-b85.education.gouv.fr
    #11
  • !
    1024-bit DKIM key
DKIM · 1024-bit RSA keys are the minimum and are considered weak today: dkim (1024 bits). Rotate to a 2048-bit key.
    #23
  • !
    Not configured
TLS · MTA-STS is not configured, so other mail servers fall back to unencrypted delivery when TLS fails or is stripped by an attacker. Publish a _mta-sts TXT record and a policy at https://mta-sts.<domain>/.well-known/mta-sts.txt.
